Well THIS is certainly news! =O

You didn’t think Ethan would be interested in hearing that sooner? =/ (Or did you just think it wasn’t a good idea to tell him right away?)

Well… seeing how incredibly eager he responded to his powers at first?
It would have added massively to his impatience – that at first *did* hamper his progress in training ;-)

Also at first -after having the confrontation with the dragon- Ethan was reluctant to take up the ‘tasks’ as arborist.
Allowing Danbi to stay -despite the danger of his presence- was used as ‘barter’ to convince him.
He was new to their community and I don’t think they knew him well enough yet, to recognize his inert goodness.
His willingness to help, find a way to do-his-share in an alternative way he could be comfortable with?

Maybe they feared, that the knowledge of being able to travel the red gate would be like telling him he has the means to ‘go back home’?
He is to valuable to them to give him an *out*…
It is not unreasonable to wait untill he would ask… ?

All IMHO off course ;-)

(Really happy to see this discussion, BTW. There is a lot of unspoken things in this story, and a lot left to interpretation!)

In addition to everything kniptzijneigenhaar said, there’s also the fact that Wei Yun was very unwilling to teach Ethan at first. She probably did the bare minimum in the beginning, and didn’t exactly have a knack for teaching. So if Ethan didn’t express to her any desire to go back, she genuinely might not have thought to tell him.

Wasn’t her reluctance also because of the preoccupation with her family drama?
Oh! And then when she says ‘been there and came back, obviously’, does that mean the family-drama was in ‘our’ world…?

Ever since the ‘Danbi-snatch-teleport’ to save him from the dragon (looking just as spontanious as the initial group-travel ‘awakening’ of his power) I had been wondering if there had already been some training with passengers?

We *have* seen some very usefull exercises – like the ‘aim’ into a room chock-full of clutter! No more twigs-piercing-cheeks ;-)

He’s probably had some practice with non-living objects that have less mass than an adult person!

Also (and then I’ll stop ‘hogging’ the comments, Keiiii – promise):

I really hope the little test-sapling (‘????’ – cuuute) will grow big-and-strong-enough soon, to provide the cottage with it’s own little safe space.
Everyone having to wear these masks makes it look so *gloomy* to me …!

I know it might not make any sense, but to me the cute little colourfull thing (with it’s ‘??’ and ‘!!’) reads ‘enthousiastic’ ;-)

Somehow it feels like the ‘trees-of-life’ so far have reacted *welcoming* somehow, when recognizing Ethan?
Just hoping that the danger/possibility of them transforming back isn’t real (allthough I understand the fear)
