The implications of what dragons are is terrifying considering they come from the ruins of Xi. Also, Elyath-No-Pistil is a very clever way of conveying it, I like it.

They used to be wyrms (and the ones that haven’t been corrupted can turn back to wyrms), just like the baby one from a few chapters ago. But yeah, who knows? Those dragons in the ruins became corrupted when Xi was destroyed, and maybe there’s a very dark and disturbing reason for why/how they got corrupted… Maybe.

The trees *are* rather ‘filter-less’ in their observations!
Someone/ something ‘outed’ constantly…
But no-one engages. If I were constantly ignored like that, I’d be ‘! ! ! ! ! !’ too

Other people can hear them too, when the trees get this chatty! But the trees usually don’t get this chatty/excited without an arborist around.

Ooh man!!! I’ve been reading this comic for years, but something came up and I ended at the last update page before not reading for a while due to life (the end of chapter 26….). I knew you were still updating, because I remembered loving this comic and would check back every so often, but figured I would re-read the whole comic and catch up at the same time. I finally had a few days free and decided to binge. Holy hell!!! OMG, so many things have been revealed, I am shook!!! Answered so many questions, and I have more, that I’m sure the answers will be revealed to in time!!! You’re such a good writer and artist, this story is such a joy to experience. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!!

Wow, what or when was chapter 26… *goes back to check* Wow! X’D It’s exciting to have someone return after so long! I’m glad you enjoyed the read. Do you have a favorite scene? I am also super curious as to what questions you have…

For favorite scene…. hmm. I can’t choose! I think during the rain, when Lushaka is comforting Ethan, ending with him headbutting him and a rainbow is behind them? Oh, or maybe the first time we see a baby dragon, and the horror of the killing? Or maybe when coming upon Danbi, revealing his new physical state? Maybe the part on the train, before the terrorists, with the child!Renshaw? Uuugh, there are so many good parts that are so fun!!! I definitely showed my family your dragons, and the general consensus was a horrified, “don’t like that,” so, 10/10, super fun to show others! XD (Yes, I did warn them before hand it would be disturbing, while also telling them they had no choice.)

For questions…. the ones I can remember right now are: how are dragons actually created? Was it because of the Queen’s tantrum all those years ago, and that’s why they work for her? Or have wyrms always been able to transform (with the assumption that wyrms are native to the planet, in which case why are they working with the Queen)? Will Ethan return back home? Will he even want to? What’s going on with Lushaka, and his young looks and his tentacles, which make him weird? You mention that Elyaths who are only attracted to the opposite sex would be considered sexual deviants (and is impossible to know for those who continue to reside on their home planet, anyways), but that doesn’t mean impossible, so I was wondering if that could happen…. Did the Hornets start hundreds of years ago right after the Queen’s tantrum and her creating the circle which encompases the “safe” space, or more recently because … IDK, someone in the palace found out and had to do something about it, or something else? Also, I guess most importantly: is the Queen a Shadow? Because she has that “tattoo” under her eye, like Ethan and his dad’s shadows do. In which case, how did she “get out” of the “shadow realm”…? Whose shadow is she? (I assume a dead person’s.)

OMG that is a lot of questions! (Don’t worry, that’s a good thing!) And some I can’t answer due to spoilers and/or undecided canon!

I can tell you that the wyrms are created by the Queen. Depending on how you see it, they can even be considered as sentient extensions of herself… before they get severed, at least. (The deranged ones from the ruins of Xi have all been severed) The Queen uses them for various purposes, including terraforming the planet which is how the Circle/Inside exists. They also guard the Silver Garden where the white/blue Elyeos are kept and bred. Some of them also patrol the “Inner Zone” which is the parts of the Circle closer to the center.

They can all switch back and forth between dragon/wyrm forms as needed. The guards and patrols spend most of their time in their dragon form, while the terraforming ones are seen in their wyrm form. There are considerable variations in the dragon forms. Dedicated guards/patrols tend to be more compact even when fully grown, which allows them to roam around city blocks without wrecking buildings all the time.

Aaah, thank you so much! This has helped me conceptualize your story better! I have a suspicion about which questions you don’t have answers to vs which ones you don’t want to spoil…. I can’t wait to read the answers later!!! (Just kidding, I can totally wait.) I’m waffling between re-read this whole comic again right now, or waiting until it’s complete…. uugh, so much time, but so pretty and interesting. Decisions, decisions….

No, wait, another question: IS ETHAN STRAIGHT!? He’s only 19, which means … he’s only showed straight-leaning tendencies, but he could still be figuring it out!!! Him and Lushaka would just be so cute together, and I assume Ethan knows because he’s not stupid and last chapter, with Lushaka using the metaphor of the danso…. yeah, pretty sure Ethan knows Lushaka has a … crush? It certainly seems like a crush! I could be wrong, maybe Lushaka shows love very “all or nothing” without being romantic about it, which is fine. BUT THEY’D BE SO CUTE!!!

Okay, I’m done with questions, I swear! I assume you won’t answer quite a lot of these right now, because they seem like they’ll be revealed in-story, but if you do have any answers I’d be Haku to listen!
