Is Wei Yun a closet trans man?

The canon doesn’t specify (not just for this character, but for people with Shadows in general), so that could be the case!

I feel like… if your shadow refers to you as male, then that’s gotta be who you are on the inside, because they are you. Who would know or understand you better than yourself. Curious though if the mismatch of sexes between physical body and shadow causes the transness, or the transness causes the mismatch? Who reflects who? Or maybe there’s no correlation there at all and it just happens. Very very interesting!

This is surprising and interesting. Because Keol is such a structured society surrounding gender and roles, I bet it’s not safe for Wei Yun to present how (he) wants? Given that afab appearing people dressing as ‘men’ is SO frowned upon and what Danbi has gone through so far appearing so pretty and femme. I’m curious, should we the readers be using he/him from now on, or should we just let it unfold until we’re told what’s up.

I’m humbled that my comic has sparked a nuanced discussion on this topic! Given that the telepath Odi (of all people) has used she/her to refer to Wei Yun, I feel WY might be genderfluid rather than being of one fixed gender.
